Cryptid by State: California

Today we are continuing our cross country trek with the series Cryptid by State: California. It isn't shocking to know that there are quite a few odd creatures that roam about the state but you may find it interesting that some are pretty unique from other locations. With out giving too much away think about the story of Frankenstein. I am sorry if I mispronounced some of the words. This isn't an excuse but after the long holiday it I am trying to get back into the swing of things.

There’s a few other cryptids that you didn’t mention that supposedly live in California, there’s the Lake Elsinore Monster, Lake Hodges Monster, and the giant salamanders of mount Shasta. There used to also be reports of a certain sea serpent in Monterey bay called “The Old Man” which was basically a really old looking sea serpent that apparently died. There’s also quite a few sea serpent sightings in the San Francisco Bay Area

There’s a lot to be learned in Northern California too, up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, from Foresthill up to the northern and eastern borders.

Rest in Peace Trapper, while I cant say I was a "fan" because I've only watched one episode of the show but he was respected and will be missed. Great episode Ben, thanks for the mention as well, always brightens my mood. I'm glad your doing a cryptid spotlight on the Fresno nightwalkers, I'm hyped. But that snakeheaded dog incident seems really intriguing to me.

I grew up in southern California. I've never heard of those cryptids from Ventura and San Diego counties. Interesting indeed.

The first story is awesome. I live in Santa Paula, the city which Billiwhack ranch resides.. Ventura county...I'm a ranch baby and the Limoneria Ranch surrounds the whole area...4th generation starting in 1880, let me tell you we call him the Chivoman ( Chivo is Spanish for Goat)...I have and many of us who grew up in the orchards know that there is a very scary presence there...the stories of underground labs and Mr Billiwhack are so true...but you must come to Wheeler Canyon where he has been seen the most. I was throwing newspaper for the Ventura County Star...I hated having to get off to place the paper in the newspaper boxes because we were not allowed to drive all the way up the road do the numerous attacks. I swear one early morning in December I saw horns, red eyes and breath coming from something that was at least 7 feet tall..even tho it was for only a second it felt like forever...once we were hunting up past WC road in the late 80s my friends and I were chased back all the way down from the dairy building...we lost 2 dogs and they were mutilated but save our asses..man I miss those days but I still get the heebie jebbies when I think about it..All Ventura and Santa Paula residents who grew up in the Rancho know not to F w/the Chivoman...Ben thx for the memories man..and the nightmares lol great channel

I saw something on the night crawlers one time i actually saw a cctv video of them walking through someone's yard at night. Same creatures were spotted in Yellowstone a year later

I lived in the southern California area your 1st story came from and I actually drove the roads the being your talking about appeared on.. a number of times ..just looking for the creature. What you are talking about was always referred to as the "Goatman" and had a number of origin stories... never heard the one you alluded to as the stories I heard of the creatures existence dated back to early native american lore. And no I never saw it... damn.. but I did have friends tell me they Also the road associated with this being is a road that runs from Carpenteria Ca to Ojhi Ca... a very used route.... in the daytime...

Sad ending, I didn't know about Trapper, that upset me. Honestly, I think people misinterpreted the show. I believe many of the accounts with these cryptids are real and then edited for drama. One thing is certain, you're for rea, l another exceptional cryptid video, and interesting facts about California!
