To make matters worse, the other person may commit a logical fallacy that, left unchecked, could hurt how your position is perceived. Logical fallacies are similar to cheating in sports, they say nothing about skill and yet they can help someone win if they get away with it. I usually win arguments by saying they're completely correct (when they're absolutely wrong) or just ignore them, depending on the person.
