RAV4 Prime ECO Mode Warmup

In this video, I am warming up the interior of our 2021 RAV4 Prime using the ECO Heating mode. This video also answers some questions from the comments of the video where I warm it up using the gas engine heat.

I'm in the Chicago area and Have a 2021 RAV4 prime. I try to use the heat as little as possible in cold weather; afterall I bought this car to conserve energy. I had VW beetles and Type 2's for most of my adult life, so i'm used to having a cold car, and dress warm.

Recirculate will only work if you have it set to windshield AND floor at the same time. Some cars, like my Focus, would allow you to set your AC however you wanted it.
If you wanted to recirculate, you could hit the button, and it would even recirculate on the defrost setting and f you hit the button after.
My Avalon…. Not so much. Only if it’s set to the windshield and floor can I recirculate, which is maddening, because sometimes I need extra hot air on the windshield and NOT on my feet.

If you leave it plugged in while you’re heating will the charger keep up with the electric/heat pump system?

So the engine won't kick in if you keep it on ECO Heat?

True eco mode is when you hit the auto button, only adjust the temperature, and leave everything else alone.

Too bad the thermometer wasn't shown for the initial temperature at 9:07am. Then we could see how many degrees it increased to get to 70.

I still don't understand why you won't try using the "AUTO" button and leaving the "ECO" button off? This should heat the car faster. Although, nothing is faster than using the engine.

lol my whole trip won’t take more then 17 minutes time is money and this cost way to much of both.

Out of all the engineering that went into this vehicle, that’s the best they can do for the charging port. C’mon man.

If I didn't have a garage, I wouldn't own an EV. An ICE car would have been warmed up and on its way, before you unplugged your EV charge cable.
