For reference, "Culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant' includes Shrek. Shrek is in an archive.

Why is this channel so small? It really needs to blow up.

The realization that digital medium is so finite kinda scares me. My life's work, all of it, is stored on computers

3:57 "...in this day and age" – when talking about storing things for eternity, one has to keep in mind youtube viewers far in the future :)

Building "big scary monument" has already been done in the past, in the forms of great pyramids, where the faraoes should rest in eternity. But human curiosity drove us to explore them anyways. How to deter future civilizations from entering radioactive waste is truly a hard puzzle

I'm home sick today and binging these videos at this point. I am gonna do my part to increase your views. I don't recommend a lot channels to friends but I'll recommend yours. I feel like you're content would be what happens if someone combined the Internet Historian and Curious Droid. That's high praise in my book

Learn from history: we still have written records that were indented into soft clay and then fired like pottery that dates back to the Mesopotamian civilization. Well-made pottery is effectively artificial stone, and will last millions of years if it is protected from erosion by the elements.

The Hoover Damn solar clock made me feel less like it's just a civil installation for electricity and more like I was in Star Wars or Metroid or some other Sci-Fi world where the aliens are super smart and leave messages for OUR BRAVE HERO to find.

Turns out, we're the aliens.

This is a very interesting topic. As I've spent a large portion of my life obssessed with preserving as much cool stuff as I can.

And honestly the thing I realized along the way was that everything turns to dust eventually. True immortality is attained through creation. Once you have taken up a place in someone's head rent free, oh you'll be talked about until the end of time my friend. Even if only one man says your name, that is still a life beyond your own.

This video is impeccable, especially the intro. You and your channel need more recognition, man.

We should build a big Chungus on nuclear sites, humans in the future will surely get it.

Your last proposal has some truth in it. I bet none of those nuclear scentists and sociologists ever thought of making "this is not a place of honor" into a meme

My personal favorite is using engraved quartz crystals, which can be written on and read by lasers, to store insane amounts of data (petabytes per cubic inch) for very long amounts of time (it's a fucking rock).

The best form of preserving information is "being there" and actively copying it to new media once in a while.

At 10:24 Stonehenge was built closer to 5, 000 years ago than 3, 000 years ago, by the way.

Imagine if humans forgot about this and a million years later future humans finds it and thinks omg there’s an entire civilization out there not knowing it’s there own.

When it came to the Nuclear waste issue, the idea that popped into my head was, what if we taught as many people as possible simple knowledge about it, something that wouldn't have tis meaning warped very quickly, and have it taught everywhere, so if something bad does happen, someone somewhere will know and be able to pass on the information throughout the generations. Definitely not perfect, but I think it could be a nice compliment to other ideas, not very concrete, but if people are still around, it would make sense to have them already have an idea of what to look out for

Edit: This is why you watch to the end of the video, you loosely covered that idea, when the nuclear waste was brought up I thought, nuclear cult sounds good, but it would be better if everyone knew, then i came up with my idea, wrote it down after the nuclear section, and then you bring it up at the end of the video, classic move.
