That was an awesome articulation of ecumenism. It is NOT holding to be true to what we believe to be false teachings of other faiths and denominations for the sake of sharing a kumbaya moment.

Regretfully, the apologist failed to point out the there is no "doctrine" of ecumenism. Ecumenism denotes a set or series of actions by the modern Church. There is no codified doctrinal content of ecumenism binding on the consciences of the faithful. Ecumenism falls under the umbrella of presidential judgement. A faithful Catholic can reject or disagree with the agenda put forth by the modern Church. One is not bound to it

Sorry but Love will not invite the worldly. Only the Plain Unfiltered Truth! Christ will come with a sword, Don't fall for this "love" false movement. Seems Like The Priority in Ecumenism is to be *Liked*, when true disciples are always *REJECTED* by the World!!!!

Ecumenism is not merely evangelization reimagined, it simply is dialogue with no real goal. No goal of conversion, just the goal of sitting around and talking with people of other faiths. And even then, the idea seems always to be that we need to emphasize our similarities and downplay our differences...as if the differences AREN'T the elephant in the room. The conversation never really gets round to the differences and the ACTUAL evangelization, because for some reason the dialogue itself has become the goal, rather than a means to attain the goal (conversion). Very poor answer. Come on. It's time to admit Vat. II bore spiritually rotten fruit in the Church.

As crestons wife I have had roman catholic friends my childhood best friend was a Roman Catholic she since hated her religion I don't know what all happened since she has become an adult she won't go to church anywhere but she said it's because of catholicism I know exactly what roman catholicism believes I've studied it extensively and deeply I don't agree with very much except for the trinity and basic beliefs like that I was born and grew up in Michigan there's not much else it'd like being baptist in the south it's everywhere mostly but I will never convert to catholicism because of my Savior Jesus Christ I don't like ecumenicalism we can not come together and put aside out major differences in our beliefs minor ones yes but not in major differences I am a Christian not a Catholic not a Mormon or Jehovah witness or a overly emotional Penecostal holiness type churches they rely too heavily on spiritual experiences experience who relies on experiences spiritual experiences and it matters who I believe in and what I believe about what Jesus taught and religion and denominations all if them and especially when they say we are the church one true church that Christ founded that's a cult like Jehovah witnesses and Mormons and church of Christ and Roman Catholic thanks to Jesus I'm not drinking the poison of the Kool aid false communion of leavened bread a little leaven ruins the whole lump it matters what gospel what Jesus we believe lots of people say I believe in Jesus I'm a Christian I'm a follower of Jesus but in the Bible they all believed the same mind etc and true unity and fellowship they didn't have major differences in beliefs only minor differences and when they did have major differences like peter who was deceived for a while Jesus set peter free from being self deceived like in Galatians and his old way of Judaism he struggled with Judaism and Christianity where as Paul did not not like peter was but he was delivered with Jesus help through prayer meditating and he never had problems with it anymore like before

The irony is that I heard a Russian Orthodox priest literally say the same thing you said, especially the part that ecumenism is similar to evangelism.

Btw, ecumenism is not a doctrine. It's a practice. Even if it were a good practice, which it obviously isn't, Vatican II's decree in favor of it could not be infallible because the Church's infallibility charisma only covers matters of faith and morals.

The Church has always taught that it is a mortal sin to attend non-Catholic worship services, weddings and funerals excepted.. And that belief IS infallible because it pertains to morals. Faithful Catholics, do not be fooled, it is a MORTAL SIN to attend ecumenical worship srvices. I don't care how many popes attend them or encourage them

Outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation. And that is an infallible teaching too.

We cannot ecumenize out of one corner of our mouths and evangelize out of the other corner. That's what you call "speaking with forked tongue".

Read Pope Pius XI's encylical Mortalium Animos.
