D-143 THE HARD COAL ROADS: what went wrong Railroad Press wrote, “Much of the film has hard to find footage, and is high quality. This collection surpasses anything that I have seen for the first three railroads. The colors are accurate, and the images and the trains seem to jump off the screen. A meticulous producer, location awareness is always a priority. Extremely interesting and has the rarity factor. In short, this exemplary show is a must have!”

The scenes were all filmed by Jack Kuiphoff, Joseph Zook and Wil Whittaker.

Two cash strapped companies merging and not changing their ways of doing business was never going to work. I know people hate Stanley Crane for all the lines he abandoned with Conrail, but he did what Penn Central should have done to survive.
