Between all the unnecessary advice I get every day, this is a necessary one.

Man was asked to say some advice about going to japan as a tourist, and the guy straight up told the golden rule of tourism... 😂

Yes, YES. And, please, PLEASE apply this rule also when travelling to Italy. NOBODY WHO'S ITALIAN EATS IN PLACE CALLED LIKE "FETTUCCINI" OR "NAPOLI" WHICH IS IN FRONT OF THE SEA AND HAS 25€ OF PASTA PLATES.
AVOID TOURISTS TRAPS.

As someone who has been to Japan I can definitely confirm the best food spots were the ones we stumbled across while walking. Not Google and went too! Great advice!

"Think like a local" is advice that should be heeded when going to any country.

Could not agree more. Thankfully a close friend of mine is Japanese. Visiting the country with a native is a whole new experience and like he said, think and act native. Miyoko’s grandmother, at the end of my trip, gave me a beautiful gift thanking me for doing just that. She said I honored them. It was an amazing trip!

Imagine that, "try to be like a local, think like a local." All foreigners who go to another country should literally take that advice. Even when you come here to America!

I like this advice.
Since it's hard to communicate with the locals when visiting Japan, although they try to be super nice to tourists everytime they encounter one.

Then they got signs and staff saying to you “No gaijin” as you get close or walk in.

Edit: just came back to this video scrolling through shorts and was gonna say this again then realised my past self already did. Still, I stand firm. There’s a place for Japanese and then there’s a place for Japanese and gaijin. A black man in Japan in another interview said it best:

“Japanese people will accept you if you behave like the Japanese but in fact you’re a guest in the country so you should behave better” - words heard by very few.
