The question is not just: "do they have a criminal record?", but also: "are they members of the military of another state?"

Absolutely correct Nigel, no doubt about it. Good for you for voicing this, common sense, you are not being unkind in anyway.

My country (The Netherlands) has privatized the railroads for person transport. Works great. Companies bid for a route.
The government makes sure there is a baseline in service, such as you can use your card on with all providers and a sort of standard for stations.
But the companies still have enough room to distinguish from eachother. The biggest company (The NS) has the government as biggest stakeholder, so if there are no bids on a route that has low potential, they take it on them to garantee transport.

Regarding the railways, the last BR CEO said the board were not against privatisation but the Treasury didn't ask them how the railway was run. British Rail Plc could have been a success as is the company Deutsche Bahn (a company owned by the German government).

You are correct, Nigel, regarding allowing unchecked illegal borders crosses into the country. (And yet our passports and visas are mandatorily checked at airports.)

Just registered my vote in the tric poll but in the best interview category I was surprised to find no mention of your interview with Donald Trump where he discusses his attitude to Nato should he become president again. Surely this was an important interview and should have been included. Bias at work again ?

Public ownership of major infrastructure, especially Railway, can absorb good and bad economic time, compering to private who can absorb good time but not bad economic time which automatically pass to customers .Definitely. 🐖💯🇺🇸🤗🇦🇺❤️👍🌎 21:14
