Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli interpreta il Lamento della Ninfa di Claudio Monteverdi dall'ottavo libro dei madrigali. Si uniscono al canto Matteo Mezzaro, Luca Dordolo e Mauro Borgioni, il complesso Cantar Lontano è diretto da Marco Mencoboni. Registrato dal vivo il 3 agosto del 2011 al teatro Lauro Rossi di Macerata all'interno del cartellone dello Sferisterio Opera Festival.

Non capisco molti commenti. Questa è di gran lunga l'interpretazione più commovente che abbia sentito. Forse perché sono italiani?

Although I like the "mise en scene" of this piece with period costumes, the piece is supposed to be sad and melancolic.  The soprano sings this piece way too angrily/aggressively.  She presses against her notes so hard it almost ruins the dreamlike beauty of this piece.  Her talent is certainly evident but just needs to turn it down a notch.

Bella voce. Bella l'orchestra con i suoi costumi. Se posso, il tempo è un po' lento e ciò preclude il carattere "passionale" del pezzo. Mencoboni sempre bravo anfitrione.

Yet another performance where everything is how It is not supposed to be. Monteverdi did spent an extra expensive amount of paper to print the part of la ninfa in score, so that it is not performed by the steady rhythm of the ground, means without the pulse of the director. Here she does her virtuous work of rubato over an almost strict basso ground (because it is easier). The pastori are supposed to sing a la batutta (printed in parts) and yet it is them (like in every other performance) who sing in a free pulse (because it is easier). All very nice, but no correct reading of monteverdis instructions, which is no problem of course. A just very normal modern performance in nice colourful clothes.

This "period costume" thing needs to stop. It's ridiculous and pointless!
