Hyundai Accent Drags A BMW M5 Not Once BUT TWICE!

Say it ain't so! Backyard built Hyundai Accent taking out of big dollar BMW M5... not once.... BUT TWICE! Who doesn't love an under dog?

Found some info on the build: It's best pass was a 10.8 at 134mph at another track, and its running a built 2000 2.0L Tiburon engine with Crower cams.

Always love seeing these Accent sleepers. My first car was a 2002 Desert Sand Accent coupe. I never got rid of it and it became my beater racer over the years. It went through many setups; first being the stock 1.6 DOHC running an ebay 50 trim, piggyback fuel tuned making around 210whp. It went 13.20s in that trim and the stock transmission actually grenaded before anything happened to the engine. It then had a Beta 2L on a 75 wet shot and broke into the 12.90s on that setup and when I finally got "serious" with the build we made mounts and dropped in a Honda JDM B18C with an S4C LSD tranny and breathed through a PTE 5858 tuned on S300 making 411whp. This was good for 11.20s on radials. Interior was stock down to the factory cassette deck and it was always good for turning heads and hurting feelings. Back when it had the N20 Beta setup the fastest kid in our area had a 13.5 second Auto GSX 2g Eclipse and loved picking on the other "street racers" which consisted of a B16a2 EG, a non turbo 300ZX, a full bolt on 02 Spec V, D16Z6 EG on 35shot Zex kit, and an Auto 91 LX Foxbody with Gears, cold air, and FlowMasters. It was always a good time being king to all these kids back in our teenage era. These days though my 7685 PTE on a cammed LQ9 is "slow" so I can't hardly imagine how teenagers have the fun we did making $5.xx an hour and building "race cars".

Best part about builds like this are the low buy in...dude probably spent no more than $1, 500 and got an nearly 10 second car!

I owned a '95 hyundai accent 3 door in 'silver rose' (metallic silverish pinkish purple)...
0:11 - after about 3 or 4 years I had to pull up the driver side window by hand (while turning the crank with the other hand) to get the thing to roll up. Exactly like this. Memories, lol!

Might have a hard time turning around with those ill-fitting drag slicks on the front lol. I'm surprised the fender wasn't cut away or removed completely to accommodate the tires. I guess that would take more away from the sleeper vibe... but one look at those tires and you'd know it wasn't exactly stock.
Stock tires are 155/80R13 btw. A bit of a difference.
