Funny - a few days ago I have done the same comparison except I have W. Night, W&Newton and Roman Szmal. W. Nights is the best of these - deepest w/o granulation but with interesting structure. I can see on your swatch that I would also like D. Smith.

Ooh I have been waiting for this! I know it's cheeky of me but I hope in the future you could possibly compare Perylene Violet to Naphtamide maroon (by DS) .Either way, excited to see this color highlighted in a video!

Oh geez! Again, I love my DS. Most of my paints are DS and M Graham, with a few trusted W&N pro and Cotman thrown in. DS never lets me down

Violets may not be your thing, nor mine, but who can possibly resist the gorgeous Perylene Violet? Watercolour artist Michael Solovyev has it in his Daniel Smith Master Artist set of paints. What he does with it in mixes is nothing short of beauty and wonder.
The White Nights swatch was really nice too.

I use the W&N mostly for shadows in botanicals. It compares to the DS.

I have the DS and love it. I don't have it in my main palette, but I do in one of my other palettes.

This is interesting, I have both the Daniel Smith and the Schmincke Perylene Violet and I prefer the Schmincke because it is less red and more violet than the Daniel Smith one. Your Schmincke one does not look like the one I have.

Hm, interesting. My first was Schmincke so my idea of what this color should be may be skewed. I just got W&N and I guess it is a touch more violet, I'll see better when I do my swatchcard. I wanted a new tube so I can put it in a palette for my fruit studies. I agree the Schmincke Perelyne Maroon is also more red than DS and M. Graham. It's nearly the same as Cad Red Deep. Strange.

Do not own PV29 yet! I like the Daniel Smith But if I could find a tube of the White Nights I would get that one if less expensive than DS.

I agree that the Schmincke seems too red to be called a perylene violet. The other 2 dried nice enough and didn't turn a muted brown. Very Nice. Thank you. ☺️

Have you tried the roman szmal version? I’ve hear that version is more saturated than others. Btw, what subjects you usually use this color for, many artists love this color but It only seems to work for making shadow .

Is it just me or did the white knights have some color separation?

The white nights seems to be the most brilliant, not as blue leaning as Daniel Smith… But in my opinion, the better of the three… Schminke is a watercolor brand that I’ve been unimpressed with time and time again… Given all of their quality hype. Thank you!

It's really strange that your Schmincke version is so pink, because I have a tube and the dotcard and it doesn't look anything similar. It's much more darker than the Daniel Smith version and doesn't have anything pinkish at all. More like a dark, muted violet. Looks like a complete different color

Nice! There seems to be less drying shift than with the Perylene Maroon. These dry lighter than when wet but not a lot duller, which is an advantage. The White Nights is a surprise - very nice. I was wondering if perhaps Rosa Gallery might have a counterpart, but they don't. They do have a similar-looking (at least on their color chart) Caput Mortuum, though.

I can’t find White Nights anywhere, I assume because of the 2022 sanctions on Russia? Love their paints though!

These are not violet at all! They look like maroons. My favourite is the Schmincke version.
