For decades now, whenever I'm out on the streets driving, I've had the thought "I really wish there were more sub-menus and hidden settings I had to navigate via a touch screen to control my automobile."

Wow, this looks like it would stress me out way more than just driving myself

It's kinda nuts Elon promised robotaxis to be ready by 2020 and here we are almost in 2023 and Beta is still struggling....

It's amazing to me that you can just beta test this stuff on public roads in the US.

I don’t have a Tesla, nor have I ever driven one, but it is so interesting to watch your videos anyways. Your approach toward using autopilot is amazing, I’m impressed that you use your own time to go out and test this and then you make an incredibly descriptive voice over and you edit it all together. Thank you for being so thorough and actually showing us real time how autopilot is progressing. We thank YOU for being here and entertaining us with your great videos!

Your channel is the only source of ground truth about Tesla FSD. It’s insane that none of this makes it’s way onto mainstream news outlets. Cars are driving themselves and nobody has heard about it…

I decided to just drive the speed limit all the time years ago, and there are certainly times when you are driving a lot slower than everyone else on the road, but I found that I tend to get places just as quickly, especially in city driving. The traffic light timing tends to be set based on the speed limits. Most of the people that pass me end up sitting at a light, and I tend to get to the lights when they turn green. Some people get annoyed, mostly because they have no idea what the speed limit is, and most people ignore all the school zones I regularly go through, but I have noticed something positive. Lots of times people just slow down to the speed limit with you. So, I think as this matures and spreads, it may in fact become a lot more common that people just drive the speed limit, and a lot of these speed differential issues will just disappear.

Ten years ago when early neural nets suddenly got 'good' at identifying cats and human faces, many people saw an inflection moment, projecting some kind of 'understanding' on the part of the machine. I'm coming more to the opinion that we're at a similar point now - FSD looks as though it understands most of the time, but it's all just an illusion. It has zero basic road sense. I get similar vibes from ChatGPT too. I mean, is this it? Endless training cycles on more and more edge cases, two steps forward one step back. Something feels missing here, and i keep thinking about the way we teach real people. And hoping for some new inflection point.
Anyway, that said, I really appreciate the way that AIDrivr so clearly narrates these breakdowns where the system reveals its flaws. Seems hollow and brittle still. Would appreciate some constructive feedback on this. Here to learn.

"NOT in a good place" is to say the least. You had a system commit an error within seconds of engagement, and a complete system failure with in 10 minutes. This is not the system that the lier in chief promised FIVE YEARS in. We've disabled FSD beta because it routinely behaves in a manor that puts us and drivers around us in dangerous situations. Enough is enough, so we joined countless FSD buyers in a class action lawsuit.

Hi there, have you ever thought of planning a route you know causes FSDB the most trouble, with speed bumps and roundabouts, etc. then testing that route after each update to see what it learned?

The ONLY critique of your vids I have is that it’s hard to tell what has improved between versions, since you seem to take different routes each time, I can’t tell if it’s an issue with that particular roundabout etc. or the original issue still exists. There have been situations in the past where I think “I’d like to see that tested again in the future”.

Regardless, you have the best content and we all appreciate it. Thanks for commenting on MKBHD’s vid, he didn’t seem to know wtf he was doing, which made FSD look bad to people not in the loop. But yeah maybe it’s indicative of where FSD is right now.

Thank you so much!

It feels like they haven't touched the speedbump detection in a while. Hopefully, one future update will significantly increase neural net confidence and most resolve the issue

I watch all of these videos because it is one of the few, if not only, channels that actually demonstrates and tests the FSD. Thank you!

18:50 I really like that you interfere not at all with FSD even if it makes mistakes as long as it's safe. So many other YTer would have switched the lane manually and it always leaves the spectator with the question in mind what would have happened.

I have the feeling that speedbumps are going to be a problem for a long time. Sometimes they are barely visible even to the human eye and the FSD is purely camera-based and relies on contrast. I think a good workaround would be to save the gps data of a rough damper actuation aka speedbump or pothole and broadcast automatically fleetwide at least for the general area. Thanks for the great content! Really gives us a feeling for what to come. Cheers from Germany

I don’t remember what version it was when speed bumps stopped showing up and when roundabouts got worse. But It might be because of the occupancy network. Like they were reaching a local maximum and needed to switch over to make it get better. Obviously the occupancy network is good for way more things, just a thought I had in watching this video.

Also regarding the mail van... there is a one way road by my house where the turn lane is always full of permanently parked cars.

FSD waits for them indefinitely. I've sat there 5 minutes to test. I have to tap the accelerator about 5 times to get past

This video showed the capabilities of Tesla autodrive and it proved to me that this car might be viable in the US but it will never work in most of Europe, at least inside cities. I say that as someone who has lived in both places. US streets are so much more forgiving and easy to navigate than European streets: Less pedestrians, wider and more numerous lanes, few roundabouts, etc.
This function would only work in the highways.

Much like the situation you got with the van parked in the street, a van broke down on the highway today a few cars ahead of me. Of course the cars in front make their way around it. I waited to see what auto pilot would do... And it did nothing. Pulled up behind the van and decided to just chill for 10 seconds until I got sick of waiting on it to figure it out.

5:30 the FSL issue with the postal truck could’ve been how close to the intersection the postie chose to stop. It would be super easy to commit to a pass maneuver just as a car turns from the intersection into the lane you are occupying.

I’d be curious to see how it handles a similar stopped vehicle in the middle of the street and not only two car lengths from the intersection.
