War starts so introduce DORA (Defense of the Realm Act)
Don't fly a kite, water down the beer
Keep off the bridges and the train tracks
Watch what you say there could be a spy (All of these were measures introduced as part of DORA)

Need an army so start recruitment (nearly a million men volunteer by Christmas 1914)
Lots of posters to make you feel guilty (propaganda posters of all types played on people's minds)
Leave you mother leave your loved ones (wave goodbyee!)
France with your mates (Pals battalions)
Lice in a trench ( Just one of the many hazards in a trench)

1915 munitions crisis ( We needed weapons fast!)
Get the women to work in the factory ( Lloyd George and Mrs Pankhurst actively recruited women to the war effort)
The work they do makes them turn yellow ( 'Canaries')
It gave them cancer but we were fighting a war...

1916 Battle of the Somme
Britain's worst military disaster (60,000 dead or wounded on day 1!
I know lets make a film of it ( Over 20 million people went to see it!)
watch the women collapse on the floor ( It was so shocking this happened)

1917 it became urgent
Due to unrestricted submarine warfare (German U Boats were sinking supply ships at an alarming rate)
So bring in the Women's Land Army ( Women working on the farms)
Bring rationing for sugar, meat, beer

1918 build home for heroes (That's what Lloyd George said he would do)
See the soldiers look after the wounded ( Lots of men were wounded, lost limbs, blindness, psychological problems.
And the women you know they deserve it
Give them the vote for all their hard work (Not the only reason why women got the vote but it is a factor)
