South Korea signed a massive arms deal with Poland to sell tanks and howitzers worth almost 5-point-8 billion dollars.
This confirmed part of a 'framework contract' agreed upon last month.
At the signing ceremony held in Poland on Friday local time,... the country's Defense Minister signed the deal and handed it to the head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
This is looked to help Seoul's arms exports for this year hit a record-high... of more than ten billion dollars.
Last month, Poland signed a 'basic deal'... that included buying 980 K2 armored tanks, 648 K9 self-propelled howitzers, and 48 FA-50 fighters projected to be more than 14 billion dollars in total.
A number of weapons systems not yet confirmed through Friday's deal - - will likely get the green light on Monday.

There is old saying in Korea, make friends who lives far away and keep enemies at close. Looking at past history, countries which are distance far away are not a threat to you but ones close to you tend to be your enemies. Unlike US contractors, S Korean contractors go to warzones and check on their products if there is any defects. US weapons manufacturers also broke many contracts not honoring warranties thus S Korea decided to build its own weapons.

Before others complaining about buying S Korean weapons, ask if the US and Germany has enough chips to build their weapons and offer transfer of technology to Poland. This wasn't just regular business deal. If you worry money or politics over people's lives then sure buy from Washington. Once Washington has leash on your country they will never try to let go like what happened in S Korea. Washington is refusing to transfer control of S Korean military with every kind of excuses and don't want to see Korea unified so US weapons manufacturers can milk billions from S Korea. Every S Koreans knows this. As soon as Poland rely on the US weapons manufacturers then same will happen to Poland. Poland asked for strategic partnership able to transfer technology for Poland defense which S Korea understood with it's own history and gave what Poland needed to build them in Poland so able to resupply parts inside Poland for war.

It's good to see S Korean weapons sold to defend a nation but same time sad to see countries have to build up their military again for safety in 21st century. We thought people grew up and done with big wars except North Korea.

Reliance for the US weapons never resulted in good terms for client states. S Korea bought F15K and 5 years later Boeing wanted $100 million per plane for minor modification. This happens all the time dealing with the US weapons manufacturer thus S Korea decided to go independent. Washington will also will not allow client state to use its weapons for defense like when Yeongpyong island was bombed by N Korean artillery but Washington refused S Korea from using its own F15K paid by S Korean tax payers.
