An absolutely phenomenal man. He's the type of guy that could say to his 14 year old son, "When I was your age, I was 25."

This is the first time I've heard of someone being called a deserter because they ran _into_ a combat zone.

If I see a grenade, I'm running. I just want you all to know that. So there are no misunderstandings.

I went to school with someone who jumped on a grenade in Vietnam, saving his men. Unfortunately, he did not survive. Like these two he was awarded the Medal of Honor.

I had the absolute honor of meeting this badass and laying a wreath with him at the Iwo Jima memorial on Marine Corps Base Hawaii in 2004.

I learned about this warrior when I was in MAI back in the day. He was one of my biggest inspirations as a young Marine.

Sometimes I'm humbled and awed by the bravery shown by ordinary people - or maybe I should call them extraordinary.

He is the youngest recipient in the 20th century. There was a 13 year old drummer durring the civil war that won the award.

I had the honor of meeting Jack in 2005 while on a military historic tour in the Pacific, Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He was a great man and very fun to hang out with and listen to his stories.

Wow, a kid who was this brave and dedicated at the age of 17... Obviously, no heel spurs for this man!
