Using Math to See

Lucas "Bram" Willemsen is a geophysics graduate student working in Alison Malcolm's Group associated with the Earth Resources Laboratory in MIT's Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences. In his research, Willemsen is developing new methods of seismic imaging, which will enhance oil and gas recovery and help advance the use of geothermal energy and carbon capture and sequestration.
Willemsen received his BSc in earth sciences from Utrecht University and his MSc in mining and geotechnical engineering from Luleå University of Technology in the Netherlands. His is the first to receive an M. Nafi Toksöz Fellowship.
