Reaching your full potential @ the NWU School of Music & Conservatory

The School of Music & Conservatory at North-West University is located close to the banks of the Mooi River and offers exceptional instruction in Western classical and African music.

Students of the School of Music have the opportunity to develop their music skills within various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These programmes provide students with the opportunity to engage in music performance, music education, musicology, music technology and composition. The music technology lab at the School of Music is equipped with some of the latest cutting edge hardware and software including the industry standard Pro Tools.

Besides regularly performing in smaller ensembles (duets, trios, quartets and quintets), students also have the opportunity to participate as members of the Wind Ensemble, String Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Marimba Ensemble, Youth Orchestra and Conservatory Choir. Furthermore, students are exposed to exceptional performances of world-class standard in the annual concert series, and students who have reached a certain level of performance, can even participate in these concerts.
