We react to a brief history of the Vedas by the YouTube Channel Project Shivoham. Vedabhoomi - this is the name of India and for a very good reason. In this documentary, they presented all the ancient scriptures of Bhaarat in simple english. Let's watch and discuss this deep wisdom of India!
Wikipedia: The Vedas are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism.
There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda. Each Veda has four subdivisions – the Samhitas (mantras and benedictions), the Aranyakas (text on rituals, ceremonies, sacrifices and symbolic-sacrifices), the Brahmanas (commentaries on rituals, ceremonies and sacrifices), and the Upanishads (texts discussing meditation, philosophy and spiritual knowledge). Some scholars add a fifth category – the Upasanas (worship). The texts of the Upanishads discuss ideas akin to the heterodox sramana-traditions.

Our intention is to contribute to preserving the heritage of India by researching on Ancient Indian Scriptures in the fields of Science, Technology, Philosophy, Literature, Mathematics etc., and present in a micro documentary format to everyone.

Vedas are too hard and complex to learn by own. But you can surely read Puranas as they are easy to understand. We also keep Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharat and Puranas at home and read them. Roger, as you are a Krishna devotee, I suggest you to start with Bhagavat Purana or Vishnu Purana.
