How To Stop And Move Off Properly

In this video I am going to show you what gear to stop a car in and how you should manage your hands and feet as you stop. Generally stopping in 2nd gear is the best way because it matches the speed that you will be going at and I'll also explain how to move off both with and without the handbrake.

Would you recommend stopping at traffic lights, stop signs etc in 3rd gear ? I’ve been taught to stop in 2nd and only stop in 3rd if I don’t have enough time to change down gears, when surprised by traffic lights etc

Hi Dane, what do you do when turning right at a box junction and you move up waiting to turn right but the light goes red as you don't have an opportunity to turn? Is that a fail?

Hi Dane, is that correct when I stop the car : mirror, signal, put the gear in neutral, then handbrake off, cancel the signal, I have in few days my driving test I am confused with that, I had different instructor and they instructed me differently?

Thanks! I'm way off my practical exam (I haven't even sent off for my license lol), but I'm learning so much from these videos.
What I'm not clear about is at the end, why at a blind junction might I want to stop in 1st gear? Is this because I may have less time deciding when to enter the junction because of less visability and 1st will give me more power moving off?

Hi Dane, are you allowed to stop in 3rd when the examiner asks you to park next to the kerb before he asks you to do a hill start or another manoeuvre.
I find it easier to stop in 3rd on the industrial road where the examiners tend to ask students to pull over as I want to stop sooner

Hi Dane! Having serious trouble trying to go down to second gear... I always end up hoping 😭😭 going up gear is fine but going down gears I just hop! Also I was told coming up to a yield sign I should drop to 1st gear? Incase I have to stop.. however I end up hoping even more. Please help 🙏

Dane I seem to have that problem of not pressing on the accelerator when I’m moving off just lifting the clutch and car struggles before I hit the accelerator. Trying to get out of the habit.
