The third point, straightening the lead leg, was one I kinda stumbled on and boy did it change my iron striking for the better. Everything improved. Its huge...

One of your Best instructional videos ever Mark. This is a game changer. You’ve mentioned the feeling of your feet pushing in opposite directions before but this really brings it home. TY

I caught this video yesterday morning before heading out for a 4BBBB competition. My ball striking has always been inconsistent and recently I have had an even higher proportion of poor ball striking and spraying my shots around. The third tip about pushing down with the lead foot and straightening the leg through impact made so much sense but surely I needed to take this idea to a range first and do some practice.

I decided to just go for it as I had nothing to lose. I have never struck the ball so well in my life. A couple of my drives went further than I had ever hit a ball before and amazingly I only missed 3 fairways when typically I only hit 3 out of 13 typically on my home course. The next day I felt this in my upper leg a little (I am in my 60s and was obviously unused to this sort of movement) so I will have to go easy on the practice to start with while my muscles there adapt to this but…..wow. I have never had a tip before make such an instant impression on my game without any work.

Lead foot straight ing changed everything for me.
Thank you for your videos on swing cataylst and helping us understand pressure. Coach did a recent video on lead foot using amateur as examples.
Last fall by fixing my lead side and using pressure on lead side and more of a shear force changed my swing.
Immediately saw plus 110 on driver and speed sticks.
Immediately saw front view my head behind ball at impact(tour looking swing)
Chickwinng gone!!!
Can't wait for spring to work on this.
I see 110 potential swing speed in 2023.

One of your best, easy to understand tips Mark. I did number 2 and 3 and exactly as you said my strikes were transformed. Tip 1 I used to do years ago, appreciate the reminder. What was also great was how straight the ball flew to target. Doing the last one every night.
This video is going to be my go to, thanks again 👍

Mark I find your tips to be among the most helpful on YouTube. I especially like how you demonstrate the errors a lot of us make and then show us how to correct them. Sometimes I wish you would show video of true amateurs making the errors so we could identify with them more strongly. Keep up the good work.

What Mark it a saying about the lead leg/foot completely changed my strike quality. Since day one, literally, the quality of the strike and therefore distance gained it was impressive!

Excellent stuff. Coming from other sports and starting golf later but still young enough to force everything, now 30yrs later I have re-tooled the swing and getting rid of the left hip push was so hard but such a benefit. The next thing for me was to stop moving. Not literally but realizing how subtle it all is. Just throw the club and keep the body movement to a minimal except rotation. Love your stuff

What you are talking about at 4:00+ is gold. That hand motion - the low point of the hands - and when they start back up and around - is the money.

A good swing tip I’ve long followed since reading “Golf My Way” is Jack Grout’s advice, via Nicklaus, to keep the hip sockets inside the insteps in the stance; in other words don’t let the legs, front or back, sway past vertical at any point during the swing.

Something I have discovered helping “thump - click” ball strikers is that the “big picture” goal of striking ball then turf is to compress the ball into the turf so it will release with more green holding backspin. That of course is difficult to practice on mats. What I would do on mats is find one of the broken rubber tees used for driver and cut it down so it held the ball 3/8” over the mat then choke up on the club by the same amount. That ingrains the correct ball striking without a hard thump into the mat. With the ball raised 3/8” the bounce of the club just “kisses” the mat providing better feedback than even hitting on turf when the downward trajectory of the club head is ideal for hitting ball first, compressing and releasing it, then carving a dollar bill sized shallow divot.

This video is almost an exact description of my journey over last couple of years with my coach - I was a serial turf then ball duffer. First we stopped, or at least tried to stop, me swaying onto and beyond lead side (tip 1), then we went through tip 2 (which I agree really blows peoples' minds - it did mine) and now we are working on tip 3 (still work in progress). It has really improved my strike

This lesson is KEY for ensuring you're hitting the ball flush with your irons. Suggest rewatching it as many times as possible. Thanks Mark!

Hey there Mark, I’ve just come back to golf post a 10 year break due to back issues resulting in surgery. My sons taken up golf and I’m now back trying to make smart adjustments to my game to get the distance and improve ball contact. I’m guilty of being a a YouTube video watcher and have heard so much information- do this do that and for the most part nothings really ‘sunk’ in. I came across your channel and for whatever reason you spoke a language that I could connect with. I’ve been doing the drills in this video (whilst I watch Aussies retain the ashes) a few times a day, 5 minutes here and there. This evening I went to pick up my son from the local course and I thought I’d hit a couple of balls to see if my ball then turf had improved. Well, after watching this video about 15 times, pausing, practicing, the news is in. My ball connection has never been better. I was actually surprised! Just wanted to say thanks pal, keep up the good work. Simple videos, easy drills, practical advice explained without being an obnoxious jerk. Cheers Owen

I really like the myth busting breakdown! Even the whole sequence of the tips is logically put together. Thanks Mark!!! Nothing like a good crisp strike…

Mark you are an absolute superstar. I had teachers have me do the “chair drill” for months and I just struggled to connect that feeling with hitting a ball. Drop my keys in front of my foot (no tape) and now I’m getting “across the line” with the hips. Finally 👊

Hi Mark.
I just wanted to say thank you.
As you have mentioned in your videos, there's a lot of bad teaching videos out there and I'm invested now with yours as your time spent analysing and providing accurate data is so thought provoking and I have to say, little by little is improving my game.

I have struggled so much, and the fun had disappeared due to really inconsistent driving and iron play.
Your videos truly help, and since taking a step back and watching your Tiktok and IG videos and ever-so-slowly rebuilding my swing, my confidence is growing each day.
So again, I'm humbled and just so thankful to you.
P.S. your podcasts are good too.

Good advice. Scottie Scheffler does that little push move on his swing that causes his left leg to lift and turn. Thx, Ric

Great tips Mark. I just keep learning so much about the golf swing from you. I can’t wait for the weather to improve enough to get out and try these. The 3rd tip is what I need more of as well. Us older guys learned such opposite ideas to jumping etc. it’s so hard to mentally make that shift but it makes perfect sense

Mark, I have been guilty of watching too many golf swing tips that have produced a conflicted, confused and inconsistent swing. Then i found this video that brought me back to reality and a reliable golf swing. I would like to thank you. Now I just need to work on tempo and I’ll be happy 😅
Cheers John

Hi Mark, really enjoy your drills and videos. I was out all last year with a back injury.
So when I tee it up I push my legs and feet away from each other to stay stacked.
My therapist said my spine wasn't aligned correctly so this has really helped.
I have gotten longer and straighter off the tee. I don't know the physics behind
this but it might be an option for a person with a bad back.
