It is kinda weird there isn't a cave in the Hollowed Mountains, but honestly it's kinda odd they didn't expand the mountains, I thought we were gonna get more snowy stuff to play with.

the best thing for me, is my own undead horse. being able to call it anywhere is just too nice, and with a top tier horse u can travel real fast.. faster then caves often even..(of course it takes awhile to get ur mount. but even just regular horses are everywhere reall, easy to pick up) but yeah, i also got on the idea of staying in the farbane woods. most seemed to rush to get endzone castles, but then u always just only really close to one endgame zone.. but with a castle mid/west farbane, u can use 3 caves, so have three of the four endzones, with a pretty fast return cave route. and of course with all the portals we have now, u can jump from ur castle close to any area. and then zombie horse with caves, lets u do fast routes quite nice.

I am very happy I found thbis video because you started talking about the cave system and I never even knew this game had the cave system lol. I was in the forrest killing stuff for pristine hide and I saw a red crack in the rock formation and went up to it and it said to enter and I was like okay, so found out it took me to the Clive boss area if I remember correctly lol I was like damn, this is awesome lol :). Very nice video ty for making for us all. Cheers :).

The saving grace of the plots you mention at 13:59 is that it's one of the absolute best for early/mid game. The shared back area spawns 2 large Copper rocks and 1 large regular rock, so once you have Bear Form you have an insane source of quick early supplies. Each of the plots has a Rock Golem which is great for using to farm building mats while you're still on bone weapons. It's one of the closest to Dunley Cave exit and mildly close to Gloomrot cave exit. It also is near Lydia the Chaos Archer patrol, Alpha Wolf, Goreswine, and Rufus. Basically adjacent to a graveyard (Goreswine's home) for stone and bone.

I know you're placing most importance on late game, however in most servers with a decent pop you won't see almost any of those top choices available anyway (but yeah I get that this is theorycrafting, and I think you're pretty much on point in all that you said). I think it should be seriously worth mentioning bases that will help with your progression, of which this base is top of the list. Not good for defense, sure, but most people won't raid your T3 or below progression base so it's not a huge concern.

An overlooked bonus for the defense of Hallowed Mountains is that you can pull Frostmaw into raiding parties which makes it much harder to get golems up. The caveat to this is it is non-hostile to Wolf Form. Combined with adjacency to Mortium and Silverlight Cave make the plots with single entrances somewhat decent for late game locations. Oh, and the trees give Oil, so great for the most limited mid-game material.

To the same idea with luring Frostmaw for defending your base, Gorecrusher the Behemoth now patrols the Cursed Forest instead of Styx, although on a long path and kind of a long cycle, so much less reliable than Frostmaw, but much much more deadly. Simon Belmont, Jade, and Vincent too are honorable mentions with their patrol routes that might pass near some bases. This is a much much greater consideration on Brutal servers with how deadly all NPC's are. I haven't yet figured out whether this buff also is given to your servants or Banshees for castle defense.

Just wanted to put this information out there seeing as how it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the video.

I have a private game set up where you have not limitations on using waygates with certain items. This gives so much more freedom in picking locations you really want to build in

Awesome video, could you do timestamps for regions?

AND could you do some guides on building what works what doesnt and so on?

Thanks Timmy

I agree that travel time on horseback is a big consideration but if you have a 10.9 or 11.0 horse with a saddle and utilizing Wrangler's Potion and/or Worker blood and you can zip across Dunley or Farbane in no time. I just utilize the right click to get a nice red arrow line I follow on my minimap and podrace all the way back to base. Not as easy to do in Cursed Forest, Silverlight or Gloomrot but still doable. I just think that western/central Dunley bases become more viable with the sheer speed you can get, the straightness of the roads and the lower levels of the mobs (at later game compared to you).

the spot next to maja has a silverlight (T3) caravan that paths infront of it, and incursions are worth so much I think its still amazing even having no caves

PVE here. I actually ended up in the very north-east in Farbane Woods, aka the spot right next (left) to the new fisher boss who had bullied me out of my usual spot, but it turned out allright actually. I had no clue about Mortium had caves or not, as it currenlt hasnt its actually a fairly short distance away. Also the caves from Silverlight & Gloomrot also both exits fairly close in Farbane. Dunley farmlands is next door so its usually not too bad & you level out of its fairly fast. To my happy surpprice the crossroads just outside my base seem to be a npc-hotspot so quite often when i get outside there is some free stacks of wood & grass piles to quiclky scoop up. I donno how it is in PVP but in PVE you need a BILLION wood (sawdust) & grass for turning into paper into scrolls into schematics etc. So that is actually a bit of a blessing. I can at times hear the fisherman fighting thou, so beware of that if you dont like noice-y neighbours :)

Yeah because of the cave system being very favored towards Farbane, my go-to spot is still the 2-Level plot directly west of Bandit Armory and near the western merchant.

Decently close to Iron spots, & like you've said, caves from Gloomrot & Cursed Forest/Mortium. I sadly was late this wipe so I didn't get it first. But let's see if decays, or a change of ownership happens 😉

Amazing coincidence is that I built in the exact spot he was pointing out in farbane woods and how I’ve been using the caves too that’s crazy lucky 😂

We need more caves. Or perhaps a consumable that allows telaporting with loot. Edit: I agree with you

i built a tower on the top section of this plot you pointed at: 10:20 (and probably at too low of a level). I'm having to move it now just because it's too much of an island

My old strategy early game was to make my base by the horse track so I always have a horse until I unlock the horse ability

Could you elaborate what to do in the top right Plot where you can use bat to land between the two bases?

You mentioned them on 17:30. You can Land in between and have place to be behind the big plot, is that a big concern? Sorry new, would love some input.
