Educational objectives
1. Describe the challenges associated with viral infections in transplant recipients
2. Discuss the current state of virus specific T cell therapies
3. Project possible applications for gene therapies in treating viral infections
Biosketch of Dr. Lorne Schweitzer, Assistant Professor of Medicine, McGill University:
Lorne Schweitzer obtained his MD from the Université de Montréal in 2015 followed by residency training in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Medical Microbiology at McGill University. He pursued additional research training in immunology and antiviral cell therapy with Dr. Jean-Sébastien Delisle at Hôpital Maisonneuve Rosemont and is currently completing a combined Transplant-Oncology Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Columbia University in New York City.
Introduction of today's speaker and MGR hosting is by Dr. Donald Vinh, MUHC specialist in infectious diseases. Dr. Vinh has been named a Fellow by Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) in recognition of his professional excellence and significant service to the ID profession.
