RIDGE RACER TYPE 4 - R4 (Namco - Playstation - 1998)

Ridge Racer Type 4 - R4 is a racing game released by Namco in 1998, for the Sony Playstation console.

Sign up with a race team as a professional driver and work together with the team manager to win the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix is divided into three stages: the 1st and 2nd qualifying heats (2 races each) and the Final Grand Prix (4 races).

We must complete the required laps for each race and finish in a qualifying position to advance to the next race. If we do not place high enough to qualify for the next race or we are not able to complete the race within the time limit, we must retire from the race.

Vehicles use one of two styles of powersliding depending on the make of car they select: Drift and Grip. Drift cars require players to tap the brake once while turning to break into a smooth powerslide while Grip cars requires players to alternate between brakes and gas while turning to powerslide.

During the time I played, was the period people came up with rumors for this game, where you could race against Guliano's Ghost if you got 1st place in every race in all story modes, and unlock a secret chapter, and beating that would then unlock all cars regardless of the heat you're in if you did story mode again, so you could get the final car in the first heat.


It wasn't true of course, but it did make me go through all the stories. One of them nostalgia feelings.
