After all these years and watching this intro countless times I've finally understood it.

Basically the intro shows the events that transpired immediately before you, the user, gets in there.

In other words, it shows everyone's commute to work, as in the starter chick broke her heels on the way to work and caught a ride from a racer who was also going to the same place as a race driver.
