Imagine what that first blue-eyed guy must have gone through. Everyone else has dark eyes and he has relatively glowing eyes - millenia ago. He was probably treated as a God.

1:03 Also, all humans shared one common ancestor. In fact *all* animals did. That one single-celled organism a couple billion years ago.

This was fascinating, thanks Hank/Sci-Show team! My dad has green eyes and mum has brown. They had four kids; a son with green eyes, a daughter with brown, me with hazel, another daughter with hazel. Variety really is the spice of life. ;)

If a parent has blue eyes
and a parent has brown eyes

the child can still have blue eyes.

I remember being so surprised when I learned blue eyes were pretty rare. Most everyone in my life have blue eyes.
It was also interesting when I met my friend from Kenya who said that when she found out people had blue eyes, that it might as well have been purple. It seems so alien to her because she has never seen it before.

I'd say Blue Eyes are pretty endangered. I've never seen ANY kind of dragon, let alone a Blue Eyes.

My eyes used to change colors a lot when I was younger (they still do a little, but not as significantly). Depending on what I was wearing and the environment I was in, they would either be blue, green, or grey. It's still weird, but now that I know non-brown eye color is about the iris scattering light in different ways, it makes much more sense.

What I learned: I need to get as many blue-eyed women pregnant as possible to help preserve this trait.

Thanks Sci Show!

I'm 100% Polish. Everyone in my family has blue or green eyes (parents, siblings, grandparents and all their siblings, great-grandparents).
