What can crochet hooks be made of? A crochet hook can be made from an ordinary used toothbrush. To make a crochet hook out of a toothbrush, you don't need complicated tools. It is enough to have a clerical knife and nail files.

Found clearanced blue yarn once matching a narrow piece of plaid woven fabric also marked down to pennies. Was so broke, went out in the back yard and found a stick, whittled it into a smooth hook with a pocket knife I got at 14. Crocheted broomstick lace border around the fabric edge, for a runner to step out on instead of cold bare floor in the morning. Necessity is the mother of invention.

That’s pretty funny I had a broken toothbrush that I had been using to clean the fish tank when the head broke off, and I just made myself a crocheted hook. My father always whittled them out of wood for us usually when we were camping.

I’m retired and have to watch what I spend. I need to buy a hook but it was $11. Dollars I didn’t buy it so I saw it was made from bamboo so I just got make husband to make a notch in it and then I got a free hook .
