As a retail worker, I actually heard multiple people reference this sketch while buying presents for their wife/mom this year. Thanks SNL!

Kristen has some serious mom energy in this. Almost like she actually lived this moment once and just relived it.

Shout out to all the moms. They’re the unsung heroes of everything.

This skit changed Christmas in our house. The year it aired my husband made sure I didn’t get a robe and since this aired (okay, two Christmases have gone by) it’s a joy to see boxes under the tree and a full stocking- now in our house when I’m forgotten my husband says, “you got a robe” and adjusts the situation. Never thought a skit could change my life.

Too real. When I was a young child, my Mom did all the Christmas shopping. She'd get my sisters and I and our father all kinds of amazing presents. My father would have one present under the tree for her, no stocking. One year it was an ugly, short yellow robe that she wore for years, even though she hated it, because she didn't want to hurt his feelings. Most years he just gave her a small amount of cash to pick out her own present. As soon as I had a job, I made sure she always had a packed stocking and dozens of presents. I've been doing that for over 40 years now.

The only way this could have been more realistic is if the mom bought the robe herself, wrapped it, and put it under the tree for herself

As a divorced mom, I had to buy myself gifts and wrap them to "open" on Christmas morning, because when my son was in elementary school he would get upset if I didn't have anything to open, especially from Santa. I still remember him saying one Christmas, "but you've been so GOOD, Mommy!" LOL At least I got stuff I knew I'd like! ;)

So many times I've watched, and I only just now noticed the dog's robe is way nicer than the mom's.

The only way this could be more realistic, was if the mom doesn’t even get in the family picture because she is the one taking it!

Whoever came up with the "and he got a robe" bit for the dog deserves an Emmy for that alone.

As a retail worker at a Marshalls, I can easily tell you how accurate this is. Literally, the weeks before Christmas the store is only filled with moms spending hundreds on everyone else but themselves, and literally the day before Christmas we have dads and children coming in buying pajama sets and robes at the last minute because they literally forgot they never got anything for their wives/mothers.

I was laughing at this, then realized my mom's stocking was empty and ran out and bought her a truckload of stuff. Love you Mom!

This is spot on, and exactly why I now buy myself Christmas presents, without feeling guilty about it.

The only part of this that isn't 100% accurate is that the mom didn't know about the dog's presents. If the dog got presents, mom bought them.

1:14-1:18 Wiig’s acting here is so accurate it’s scary lol, she’s channeling every overworked, running-on-coffee middle aged mom on the verge of a complete mental breakdown but managing to barely hold it together for her kids’ sake

Hit a little too close to home...my husband and I watched in awkward silence.

That was not an SNL skit, that was a documentary of what happens to millions of moms on Christmas Day.

But I didn’t even scream *because I keep the pain inside of me* damn. Snl got real.

I'm going to casually play this for the rest of my family in about mid-November. And then again in mid-December. Then I'll watch it again on Christmas in my robe.
