How The Strategy Tester Works: Tutorial

This video is for beginners of TradingView or those who still don't know how to use the Strategy Tester. Our Strategy Tester is one of the fastest ways to backtest a specific strategy and see detailed data like profit, loss, max drawdown, Sharpe Ratio, and more.

To get started with the Strategy Tester you first need to make sure you have coded the strategy you want to test. Open the Pine Editor and begin writing out your strategy. If you don't know how to code your own Strategy, start by selecting a pre-built strategy from the Indicators and Strategies menu. This video will walk you through both of these options for getting started with the Strategy Tester.

It would be great if u had a feature that you can just add those widgets that calculate the % around the chart, and then select on each if its long or short direction, and then it will show me the total pnl and all the stats of the strategy.
this would really be awesome, since now i do it all manually and then i copy the data to google sheets.

Do you not have any FAQ video on why the strategies are not generating orders.

Hi. I have an android tablet and I'm not seeing pine or strategy on the chart.

Thank you. I test a strategy, long, which closes always positiv. But I get always Short value. Which settings are wrong? I don't want to include transaction costs or other costs, just win should be shown. Also, it shows the entry to early, which is not real. I use the close of today, but entry is today. Makes no sense, so I assume I do something wrong. Thank you for further information or hints.
