You’re on a first date.

Dressed to impress.

Trousers are pressed, the shirt is starched, and details are on point!

She arrives grinning from ear to ear.

And then looks down and sees them...

Your cracked, 10-year-old, square-toed leather shoes.

Game over.

Dress shoes, gentleman.

They can make or break an outfit.

Designer Hardy Amies once remarked, "It is impossible to be well dressed in cheap shoes."

Shoes are arguably the most important investment a man can make in his closet.

The average man owns at least 10 pairs of shoes.

Truth is, you only need a pair of black cap toe leather oxfords for formal occasions, brogues for everyday use, dress boots for less formal occasions, loafers for casual days/weekends and a wildcard pair of your choice to upgrade your shoe game.

All you need is stylish versions of these 5 timeless and classic shoe styles in your quest to build a versatile shoe wardrobe.

This guy could probably sell me a used car for twice the price of a new one and still make me think its a good deal.

Most expensive shoes I own are boots I wear everyday - $125. The dress shoes I own are probably (I forgot) around $30 because I figured in the regularity that I would wear them and the significance of their contribution to those given events. The more money I make and the older I get, the more I consider and appreciate the quality of footwear i own which is why* I enjoy your channel. Thanks for the informative info. Always insightful and interesting!

I own 3 pairs of Church's shoes United Kingdom, First pair were a pair of two tone brogues with a white canvas and I wear them all the time, my other pair are brogue boots which I'm starting to now wear as it's getting into season and I also own a pair of black oxfords all ranging between £245-£350, I've only just turned 19 but I value shoes very greatly as I see the potential of wear in the future and I can't wait to look back on them when I'm older!

Very informative Antonio. Just starting to build my wardrobe. You and Aaron from Alpha M have been my most useful resources. Thanks for the free ebook. Much appreciated.

I have a pair of ostrich loafers from bally that was handed down to me by my father. He wore them for 20 years, have been resoled and repaired a few times. Shoes are really an investment. Buy good shoes it will probably last a lifetime.

I have a 34 year old pair of boots now on their third sole, but the snake skin is starting to look tired regardless of how much I care for them. Hand made back in the Eighties, they're the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn. I look forward to finding a replacement.

My personal favorites are the penny loafers and chelsea boots because you can go casual with them. Great video!

Shoes I use:

1 Nike Blazer
1 Balmoral Oxford (closed laced)
1 Nike Air Max 270
1 Polo Ralph Lauren Work Construction Boots
1 Chelsea Boots
1 Slip-on Loafer (Driving shoe)
1 Asics (running shoes)

Comfortable, quality, stylish.

I maintain all of them so they always look and smell like new and never worn.

Most of my shoes(I have 12 pair) cost between $400-$600. Mostly mixture of AE, Church’s and Loake. A pair of very old JM’s and new pair of Cole Haan double monk straps. I have most dress shoe styles and tend to favor Wingtips. That said, the Cole Haan’s are by far my most comfortable shoe(still full leather top to bottom) and yet they are my cheapest pair. I’m going to have to re-evaluate my shoe buying. I tend to agree with most of your picks but I don’t really consider loafers a dress shoe. I favor oxfords like whole cuts, cap toe, wing tips but even a Derby with some nice brogue work can fit the bill. The monk straps are about as informal as I go.

I bought a pair of Johnson and Murphy burgundy Oxfords at a thrift store for $9.99. After waxing and buffing I got a nice mirror shine. They look great and are a really great fit. No creases or wear marks.

I actually wear my most expensive shoes on a daily, dress code on my school requires complete suit everyday as a uniform. It's great learning from you to be the best dressed.
Thanks Antonio.

Close, I wear all my dress shoes in a two week rotation, and my favorite are a pair of Church Diplomats.

I recently bought a new pair of brown dress shoes, that'd normally go for $200, but I bought for $60, as they were on end of line clearance.

And I have a set of Chelsea boots, that I wear all the time, as they can easily be both smart-casual and formal.
