I would say being snubbed by The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is the most rock & roll thing that could happen. Because the HOF is the least R&R thing in the world. They routinely snub the most rock & roll acts. They're a joke.

Weird Al is one of two artists that I've actually gone to see in concert. I absolutely cannot hear any of the songs he's parodied without his lyrics anymore. Honestly, I thought *_I Lost On Jeopardy_* was an original song until this year.

I really enjoyed this video. I just want to point out something everybody overlooks. I saw Al being interviewed by Dan Rather and he explained that he was seriously bullied in school and that's why his mother watched him with binoculars. It wasn't just because she was over protective. Being 2 years younger than everybody made him a target for kids that put him into trash cans and forced him to give them his lunch money.
I like your video editing, btw and Summer Woods music is great.

Somehow "the movie, UHF" and "failure" just don't register in the same conversation to me. UHF will ALWAYS be one of my favorite movies.

When Al reenacts Jim Morrisons famous drunk onstage rant, I knew I was watching top level comedy.

Edit- When you mentioned Al was done with food songs, it makes Foil even more genius because it STARTS as a food parody, then goes wonderfully dark.

i have to say that the same thing with weird al and being generally misunderstood or seen as a "one-hit wonder" also applies to other artists as well. a great example of this is DEVO, always the same questions in interviews, only famous for one song but have done much better in their fourth dimensional satire.
great video by the way! long live al.

So you mean he didn't actually kill Pablo Escobar?

He’s sold over 12 million albums. That’s a pretty great legacy.

Great video. I have loved Al for years and actually got to see him in concert once. It was amazing. There were small kids with their parents, grandparents, teens the lot. Everyone wearing Hawaiian shirts and having a rocking time. I wish he would come back again. Thanks for posting.

"he who is tired of weird Al is tired of life" - Homer Simpson
It is amazing how weird Al can have such a resounding popularity among the public and a ton of cameos and voice acting parts without having any "official" awards for it, but in a way, that is the beauty about him. Legend says that the reason Kurt Cobain killed himself was because he was afraid his music was becoming too commercial, which is what a punk rocker trying to always be on the outside, fighting the system, should be afraid of. In a way, weird Al is always walking the thin line between being an extremely popular artist, while not being recognised for it and always staying on the outside, but without being so edgy, anti establishment about it.
Also, remember when COVID hit, and all the socially inept actors sang "imagine", or saying "we are all in this together" from within their million dollar mansions? Weird Al put one video: his accordion rendition of Classical Gas by Tommy Emmanuel, just to remind us that beyond being a master parodist and an unexpectedly great rapper, he can take a break and just play amazingly complicated musical pieces

"Making deliberate eyes at Prince" I nearly died laughing.

I commend you for calling out the constant repetition of those SAME. FOUR. QUESTIONS!!! that His Royal Peculiarity must be beyond exhausted of answering yet again when they inevitably rear their lazy, uninspired heads.

Saying the 'Weasel Stomping Day' is about animal cruelty is not inaccurate, but also a very shallow interpretation. It's a song about the arcane, divisive, and sometimes cruel thing people do in the name of tradition.

I saw Weird on opening night at the SCAD film festival. The whole audience adored it.

Sebastian, I enjoyed watching your video. First time watching -- when I clicked Play I assumed I would hear yet another robot voice mispronouncing names and throwing out factless information. I was so pleasantly surprised! You have worked hard on this presentation and it shows. I have followed Weird Al for decades and I didn't hear anything off. Kudos to you! You have earned my subscription.

I could watch an entire episode on UHF, his work on "Johnny Dangerously, " and how he took a date to see naked gun in the theater knowing he had a cameo in the movie. #totalballermove

This is a very good video, it's good to see a documentary style video that actually has some insightful things to say about Weird Al

I have been a hardcore fan of Al since I heard Eat It and Another One Rides The Bus. I got to see him live in 1985, and I loving love that he is getting so much attention today. And the “Yo Ding Dong, Man” is a test we give anyone trying to join my cool kids table. That and “Dental Plan (Lisa needs braces)”.
