Welcome to English in a Minute!

Light helps us to see. But what do you think the expression “see the light” means?

A: Okay, Dan. I get it now. I understand your obsession. Pickleball is so much fun!

D: I’m glad you’ve finally seen the light. It is the best sport!

A: It is! It’s so easy. You barely have to run, or even move!

D: Okay, well, serious players might disagree with that statement.

To “see the light” means to finally realize something or to understand something you didn’t understand before. It often involves changing your opinion about a situation or issue, or a sport.
