As i have read about mr taxmitzis he was supposedly worked for a real estate company witch wasn't clear if was an operational company or not.He was a person that mostly rent luxury cars to impress the guests instead buying them, and inside the house many of the stuff wasn't that expensive as well.Thing that makes me think that he didn't dare to spend allot of cash because probably for the darkness he lets say worked couldn't use much of those cash.Or he didn't wanted to have IRS on his back when they would made a search on him.I believe in the years to come the truth will be revealed, there's no such story that stayed in the darkness forever.Its just he's involvement in probably lots of dirty jobs etc makes the whole story not easy to be clear by the authorities for now simple as that!
