Synopsis: What can pottery tell us? This short lecture introduces Mycenean / Late Helladic IIIC pottery, specifically discussing recent tests of this ware found in Tarsus in the region of Cilicia / Adana in Anatolia (modern Turkey). This lecture is bonus coverage of our Bronze Age Collapse Series. Although it's not an official episode, it will be of interest to anyone who enjoys archaeology of the Sea Peoples.

Your videos are great. I like the longer ones more, but I understand, that many people today feel unwell with videos longer than 20 or 30 minutes. But within the longer lectures you have more time to bring it all together. And this is, what does your series do: Explaining to everyone, how biblical history, archaeology and history fit together. Of course I can't agree with every point, e.g. two synagogues with the same program of images within the Roman empire don't need explanation. With the greater picture you draw, I can agree.

What an interesting little lecture! I really liked the allusion of Baking the Cake of pottery . It made me smile on a rather unpleasant morning of pain. Thanks David Shetland.

Seth, FYI there’s a weird audio jump at 3:48. Great work as always.

Very interesting....
I like this kind of thing just fine.
Do you propose the Ekwesh also came from Cilicia/Pamphylia/Arzawa area?

So what’s the deal with Samson and Amasaya in northern Turkey? So interesting the names.

Tangentially, I really can't comprehend how 'people' can't see that Saul continued with his 'old job' of persecuting Christians when he essentially infiltrated the group which evolved into the early church.

It's all there, it's just taken as blind faith that he had his vision, if that's removed from the story then everything he does is in contradiction to the churches modus operandi and theological direction.

He was even sent out of the country in the hope he wouldn't cause any more damage, and we all know how that turned out!
