Do you ever wonder what happens when a body language expert looks at themselves in a mirror? I can just imagine them trying to flaunt themselves in an evermore exaggerating fashion to out-compete the person they see before them. At some point, they have made themselves so large and confident that they pull a muscle and fall to the floor. As someone tries to help them, all they think about is how that person sees them, all contracted and curling in pain. They fear that they will see them as small, insignificant and hiding something. And that will be worse than the physical pain. What a miserable existence, I say.

She honestly thinks no one ever searches for words, except to lie? Has she ever met an introvert? Has she never considered the multitude of words that can fit a situation and struggled to decide which is the most appropriate? Has she never had a groggy morning? Has she never had to be tactful in telling something delicately or diplomatically? I guess that she's the kind of person for whom tact is tantamount to lies. And really, this is the problem of body language analysis in a nutshell. People do things for any number of reasons. My husband once tried to tell me that the way I crossed my legs revealed where my interest was, but I pointed that I can have a whole long conversation with him in which the way my legs cross switches one or more times, simply for blood flow or comfort. There isn't this deeper meaning to it, it just feels more comfortable to switch legs every now and then.
