These images are kinda outdated, last year they updated the uniform using what they learned training with the US, keeping the leather reinforcement, but in combat shirts and inserting kneepads such as those in crye pants

Makes a lot of sense, this is one of the major reasons also that cowboys would wear chaps or long boots and I'm sure vaqueros did the same

Caatinga means white jungle in a native language. This forests lose all the leaves in the dry season and becomes quite a bizarre place.
