Swiss people are very polite. They love to Grüezi each other. Even as they fly past you on a bicycle or something. I just went into a supermarket and every member of staff said "Grüezi voll!" as I went through the store... great video!

You are doing a wonderful job teaching 'Schwyzerduetsch' to beginners. I love the way you are presenting the lesson, which I find interesting and entertaining at the same time. I belong to Switzerland Pictures Community and shared the link to your page there in comments. I feel your effort could be so helpful to people visiting our beautiful gem of a country. Thank you Andrea, your undertaking is not the easiest task 🙂, but you make it look that way.

I’m czech with swiss citizenship, but due to problems in the family I have never been taught German, let alone Swiss German. I had normal German in school, but I never thought the difference would be so big, but I love it. These videos are a huge help, thank you so much! :D

I'm Swiss and I've never heard of only "zi". Most of the times you would also mumble the beginning, just very quickly so it get's more a "ezi". And what's more to say... in these days a lot of people also tend to use "Hallo" instead of "Grüezi". This isn't considered so informal anymore even among adults / older people. Actually even the "Hoi" and "Sali" are used less often than some years ago. They are often replaced by "Hallo" as well. With one exception: When adding the name, you'd rather use "Hoi" instead of "Hallo". So it's either "Hallo" only or "Hoi xy".

Gruëzi, Andrea. Finaly I found a good teacher for Swiss-German. 🙏🏻 My mother was Swiss but her father went tot Belgium for his job and they stayed in Antwerp the rest of there lifes. My grandparents and my mother passed away more than 30 years ago and I always was in love with the Swiss dialect. Now I go to refresh my knowledge about it. Thank you for this wonderfull initiative on YouTube.

Thank You for Your commitment. I’m looking forward to the next episode! My first language is Polish, I can communicate in "plain German" as I had it at school (they don’t teach Swiss German at schools unfortunately;)). But as I regularly go skiing in Switzerland (this season is probably lost due to pandemic), it would be fun to impress locals with schwizertüütsch ;)
