Great video! Elysium's value is in its side quests, which offer different outcomes based on your choices, and the sheer length of the story. You can even discover who your Dad is at one point if you play the game right, fight the main behind-the-scenes villain if you don't sell the key card, and discover a fairy garden with lore tied to a library clue in one town, and can solve multiple murder cases. You really have to spend time exploring, though. There's a riddle in one of the first few towns that if you solve, you're rewarded with a Larvesta. It took me a week of playing heavily on ffwd to complete the game in its entirety and both parts. The graphics also improve in part B. This game rewards you more and more if you give it a higher level of detail-orientation toward its lore. Fair points otherwise, but a lot can be missed if taking a cursory playthrough. Crystal Advanced Redux is the DEFINITIVE gba Johto experience.
Only way to experience canon Johto without playing on Gameboy colour. There is No other game which does that.

For Kanto, you have a Quintillion Fire Red hacks. I'd Suggest Recharged Yellow maybe...
For Johto, you have Crystal Advance Redux
For Hoenn, you also have a Quintillion Emerald hacks. But I'd suggest Emerald Crest.
(if you want the BEST Hoenn experience but not picky about Gen3 artstyle, then go for Emerald Seaglass)


That would be my recommendation for "Canon" pokemon experience in the GBA sphere.

As someone that has played Elysium, the joy of it is definitely the amount of things you can do in it. If you are into story/ lore centered pokemon games Elysium is for you! The MC can talk, has personality along with the side characters, even the mom acts like a true mom! The fun of the game is in the side quests and the interaction with the npcs, the Pokemon difficultly for me was harder than most which made it fun, so 10/10 would recommend it.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really like how most ROM hacks have Pokemon from all generations. There are like 10 special Pokemon just laying around on random grass. I wish they would limit this a little more.

I'm hoping for more fan games/rom hacks that do something different to shake up the gameplay. Stuff like Pokewilds, Deserted, Emerald Rogue, This Gym Of Mine, even the newer Island game has some pretty unique gameplay

Pokemon Dreams was so good! There's so much character in that game. The NPCs were great.








I also liked the mystery surrounding our MC, who is - for some reason or another - estranged from their parents. The rival (who's also a really good character) even asks the player about their motivation for coming to that region.

2 suggestions: The screen blur when you asked us to subscribe made my eyes hurt and I mean that in a literal sense, they felt weird and in pain from that.
I believe it is pronounced "Eleesium", not "Elaisium".
