I've also shot both of these bows. I also thought the draw was nicer on the Mathews. I liked the grip better on the hoyt. Both had super solid back walls. You really can't go wrong with either of these bows.

Surprisingly to me, because I traditionally lean towards Hoyt, if I had bought a bow that day, I would have picked the mathews. The weight difference between them was very noticeable, and once you added all your accessories, I felt that the mathews would be spot on over all weight and stability.

Shot both.Really like the drawcycle of the new Lift.Consistent from draw and then stops neatly against the backwall.Shot it with a 10" bridgelock stabilizer and it was very steady on full draw and accurate at distance from the first shot.Made decent speed and were well balanced.X33 had the better grip but in the past the Mathews grip made me shoot flyers which was not the case with the Lift.Went with the Lift over the X33 but saying that the Hoyt is also an excellent bow.

If you take off the stubby on the Hoyt shouldn’t you also take off the harmonic who-ha?

If you currently shoot the RX7 Ultra is the balance and float any different than the Lift 33? They are just about the same weight, and I would bet the Lift is actually lighter if you scaled them both with the included stab from Hoyt. If you liked the Rx7 Ultra due to the easy pull and light weight what changed your feelings to lean towards the Alpha X?

Shot both and I thought the draw cycle was night and day. The LIFT had a smooth draw cycle until about 80% of the full draw it felt like it was harder for the cam to roll over. The Hoyt was smooth and consistent the whole way back. Lift was definitely lighter but after you add accessories it wouldn’t add up. The grip was also nicer on the Hoyt

What Let offs was each bow setup with? If the Hoyt was at 75 and the Mathew’s at 85, that could account for a few fps. Both bows look awesome. I prefer their shorter ATA brothers, but these look great

I had a Hoyt hyperforce and switched over to a Mathews v3 a few years back thinking the Mathews would be way better (I bought it on sale online without trying one) and right away I noticed how the Hoyt held on target way better right out of the draw like it was locked in where the Mathews teetered back and forth and floated around taking a while to settle. I switched to the bee real grip and that helped a bit but never felt as comfortable and confident as I did with a Hoyt. Honestly not even close either in my opinion and the hyper force wasn’t even considered a great bow. The v3 was quieter and drew better but it gave me more target panic as it took a while to settle it. Where as with the Hoyt even if I had target panic the bow didn’t move. I’ve gotten used to the V3 but will be switching back to Hoyt I think for my next bow.

The Lift not settling might have something to do with shooting the heavier bow first

Nice review! Shot them both and ended up with the Alpha X 33, , , it settle better, to me… both great bows…

I just shot a few of the new bows last week (PSE, Bowtech, Hoyt, Prime, and Mathews). And honestly, the Hoyt Alpha X 33 was the very first bow I eliminated out of the bunch. That grip is horrendous. And surprisingly, I enjoyed shooting the grip on the Mathews Lift. In the past, I haven’t been a fan of Mathews stock grips.
All of the new bows are so good, you can’t really go wrong. I feel like I could shoot all of them well. I’ve shot PSE the last 3 years, and this is the first year I was impressed enough with another company’s bow to switch. I ended up going with the Lift 33” and so far I’m extremely happy with my decision. Only time will tell though how I really feel about it once that new bow honeymoon is over.

I would check poundage on mathews and make sure it’s correct in draw length. I did a side by side with 30.5 inch draw and the mathews was at 70.1lbs and the hoyt was at 70.3lbs. Mathews was faster by 1fps at 420 grains, they were the same at 470 grains and the mathews was 2fps faster at 520grains

I would love to see the Hoyt vs one Bowtech SS, or the Athens Axxis 33

Both bows look solid. Anyone buying either or would be happy. However during the test, what was the let off of the Hoyt since you could adjust it from 75% to 85%? Like you said a lower let off will hold steadier. And it will shoot faster than a bow with a higher let off.

You need to verify the draw weight on both of those bows. Your video is the first that I've seen that showed the Alpha X faster than the LIFT.

The Lift draw cycle and grip was why I went with the Alpha X, love the bow and first Hoyt I've ever owned.

If Hoyt had shaved a few more ounces off it’d be a no brainer for me, but I like a lighter bow being in the West….Nice review!

I went with the LIFT but it was a razor thin close call with the Alpha X. Wish I could have both!

your draw weights weren't checked. Lift is faster, compared them a bunch

My question is why would you make a decision on a bear bow? With A lighter bow you can add the weight at the end of stabilizers and then decide which get and stays on target more easily
