DON'T BUY Chinese Parts For MOTORCYCLES

Should you buy parts on eBay or from China for your motorcycle?

You get what you pay for. The build quality is there but the fitment is not. With the 3 different items I ordered I had fitment issues with all of them. Not to mention the colors on all of them did not match up at all like they did in the pictures.
Fairing was 90$
Rear sets 110$
Lever and Master Cylinder 85

Common Questions I'm Sure I'll Get:

The best thing to do with fairings is to get the Chinese ones and put your OEM ones in storage then if you want to sell your bike you still have good OEM ones.

the rubber hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder is under low pressure, the braided hoses from the master cylinder to the brakes are high pressure so there shouldnt be any issues with how you have it

My rule is, do not ever buy cheap parts that you need to depend on. I will never cheap out on Tyres, Wheels, Bars, Pegs, and Engine Performance Mods. Things like Levers are perfectly fine to cheap out on, simply because the difference between a $40 set and a $200 a piece racing set is the materials that are used (usually Titanium) and they are quality controlled a little better.

TMB....u nailed it! I bought a set of very nice China hand levers and they were awesome for only $30. Then I bought Chinese rearsets for $150. FAIL! Shifter shaft too short. Improper tailight switch bracket. And the big digger is the rear master brake cylinder shaft will not actuate the master cylinder properly by staying aligned. Imagine braking for a corner and nothings there. The only bonus is they returned my $150 and said just keep the parts and send photos of the issues. Now I need to go find a good rearsets sponsor - lol. "Hello Driven TT" MP out.

That hose from the reservoir is a supply line to the master cylinder. There is no pressure, so no loss of performance.

I know I'm late on this, but this is one of the best Chinese vs OEM videos on YT. A lot of the comments here are really informative too.

Here's my experience on a Ninja 300 SE. I wanted the bike to be blacked out, so I bought a $700 kit from Monster Fairings. It took almost 2 months to receive the package and immediately I could tell I had been ripped off. The quality wasn't necessarily bad but it wasn't worth $700. The paint had small imperfections throughout and one noticeable spot where it looked like sandpaper had been rubbed across it. Eventually, as we all do, the bike went down. The fairings exploded into dozens of pieces.

I decided to go the ebay route this time, as I plan on selling this bike in the not too distant future and don't want to sink much more into it. Found a seller in the US, negotiated a $235 price and pulled the trigger. A week later and the kit arrived, California to Tennessee. The quality is not any different, you can actually see the same mold imperfections in both sets. I've worked in plastic injection molding and can spot things like splay and contamination in the plastic.

My educated guess is that anything other than OEM is made on the same molds in the same factory in China.

Awesome video bro I agree 💯 about the fitment side of things and the big problem there is that when you get problems fitting it takes away some of the fun as I for one like to mess around with my bike in my garage some things you can save some money but on hole for me your better off paying good money for a good product

The rubber pipe is just from the reservoir to the master cylinder, it does not need to be a braided line.

Just came across your video's today. They are really nice. I have a younger brother to but with us it's the opposite. I'm living always on the edge with everything he is the smarter one and going to a university next year. I introduced him last year into Supermoto. He is 16 now so he only can drive on a circuit. Just wanted to say I cannot imagine feeling your pain man. Really sorry for your los..

Greetings Niels from the Netherlands

now I can send this to my friends who told me its ok to buy parts from china, cause I told them that I had the feeling that they wont be the same color and than I decided to wrap my Bike after I fixed the scratches and some broken parts.

Great Video and thank you so much

hey buddy, do not worry about the rubber line from reservoir to master cylinder, its only to take the oil from onr place to the other. it does not undergo any pressure from oil. all the pressurized oil is from the master cylinder/lever to the brake calliper - t=where you're using the steel braided brake lines.. cheers.

I 100% agree with you. I bought some cheapo frame sliders off of ebay thinking they would be good enough to at least take a hit from a stand still drop but they didnt... dropped my bike in my drive way and the frame slider mounting bracket broke in half and my faring for scratched up... after that I stopped buying Chinese stuff

The Muscle Biker don't worry about that top hose going from the reservoir to the master, the only place the oil sees compression is between the master and slave cylinders - which you've braided .. The upper hose you pointed out is just a gravity fed "refill" line ..

Hey bro! when you cut a spring you may be changing the spring rate and that might be why it doesn't feel like it did or it might feel spongy - Spring Rate (in lbs./inch) is determined by dividing the Spring Constant by the total number of coils used once the spring has been cut to desired length. This is why people that cut the coil springs to lower their cars aren't happy with the hard ride the vehicle has I dig your vids!

The ebay listing clearly states that the parts may not match OEM color. I purchased chinese fairing set for my Ducati, CBR600RR and ZX10R and all three were of HIGH QUALITY and with no fitting issues whatsoever. The CBR took the longest to install. Although it was a 2004 bike with a 2006 body, the install was straight forward but the bottom of the 2006 rear cowl piece was about about an inch narrower. At first I was hesitant of the install as I thought I was going to crack the cowl or the paint and it went just fine. You just need to have patience, luck and perseverance.

I have personally bought chinese rearsets, projecter headlights and fairings, levers .Fitment was perfect for all of them. My only complaint was with the fairings. For some reason it had almost no clear coat if any at all. I had to layer 3 coats of clear myself but it was like 40 bucks so im happy

I’ve bought, fairings (almost all fairings crack unless taken care of properly), shorty levers, rearsets, steering dampener. Everything is perfect after 2 years except fairings. Gonna get a fresh set for only $260

Hoses to the res dont need to be braided makes no difference, brake levers yeah worth getting decent ones really as its your main contact with the bike, I have cheap ones on the 701 but may change them at some point.. Brembo on the Blade :-)
