How To Quickly: Change The Windows 10 Logon/Logoff Sound

DO NOT HAVE FAST STARTUP ENABLED OR YOU WON'T HEAR THE SOUNDS YOU APPLY!

Important: Make sure you tick "Play Windows Startup Sound" otherwise this won't work! I forgot to do this in the video.

To quickly change the logon and logoff sound in Windows 10, watch this video or do the following:

1. Open Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\WindowsLogon
3. Right click ExcludeFromCPL, click modify, then change the 1 to a 0.
4. Do the same for WindowsLogoff
5. Type "Sounds" in the windows search bar and click on "Change System Sounds".
6. Scroll down and click "Windows Log-off" or "Windows Log-on" followed by browse.
7. Choose a .wav file and click "Open".
8. Click "Play Windows Start up Sound"
9. Click "Apply" and "Ok" once you are done.

It's still not working for me.
I've done all that, but even after changing the windows login sound, restarted the computer and it STILL played the default sound.
I'm at a loss.

Dont work for me, when i connect device or something i dont hear a sound, the sound is .wav and i cant test the sound too

I've followed all of the steps and I was able to change the sounds but I never hear it when I log on or off. I can hear it when I press the test button but that's it

I know I'm late, but it simply doesn't play the sound for me. When I check the "play Windows startup sound" box, it plays the windows one. When I uncheck it, nothing plays. I'm using a .wav file, which should work, so I don't understand the problem.

I for some reason cannot get it to work. I am using wav files and it even lets me preview the sound I chose which is win98 but when I sign in nothing happens? Would you know why?

Weird. Didn't work for me. Did everything correct and triple checked. I do not have the "play windows startup sound" box ticked. When I do try it with this, it plays the generic sound.
