Suez Canal authority has their own pilot to cross the canal.. no one else is allowed to control

Edit: The duties of pilots commence and cease at the entrance buoys of
Port Said and Port of Suez. He only gives advice on maneuvering
the vessel, course to steer, etc. He puts at the disposal of the
Master his experience and practical knowledge of the Canal, but
as he cannot know the defects or difficulties of maneuverability
for every vessel, the responsibility falls completely upon the
Master. The pilot has to ensure that the vessel abides by:
a) The articles of the Rules of Navigation.
b) The orders of transit given by the Suez Canal Port Office

8 orders in 12 minutes is not too many orders during emergency and what was the pilot doing during this time? Too much corruption in Egypt, it's not a Suez canal, every shippy knows why it's called Marlboro canal? May be the pilot was asking for too many Marlboros and the captain might not have entertained him which lead to this accident.

how is that possible?? They transfer control of the ship to the pilot appointed by the canal authorities untill it exits the canal. So it is fault of the pilot appointed by the canal officials.

An independent investigation need to conduct about incident

Egypt has a vested interest in blaming the Captain. If the Pilot was held responsible, then not only would the Canal Authority not be eligible for compensation, they would actually be liable for damage to the vessel.
If there is blame to be applied to any individual or group of individuals, then it must be done by independent unbiased investigators.

What a bull crap, every single sailor who hasn't even been to suez, knows that the canal is famous as "Marlboro" canal because pilots and other suez officials deal in Marlboro cartons. One capt refuses to give and this happens.

It is observed that in these cicumstances, the ship's captain and the crew are a soft target and are often held responsible for the act that they might have done to protect the ship.

Poor crew. They're gonna be there for years because of the Blame Game.

Given that the sides of the Suez Canal are angled, together with the strong winds and large area of containers that act as a sail, it is quite incorrigible of Egyptian officials to blame everything solely on the pilot.

dont trust the pilots along suez canal. captains must always assume their overriding authority.

This anchor speeching method is a good...best of luck...

More than likely the Egyptian pilot was occupied with his family or selling Marlboro cigs to the sailors. There is a reason that companies pay high fees for these pilots, yet the pilots are not held accountable.

Isn't the two sailors provided by authorities guide ship in canal.

As humans if we need to progress, mistakes should be accepted and rectified as a global challenge instead of blame games.

The Costa Concordia cost about 600, 000, 000 euros to refloat so maybe the 500, 000, 000 euros for this is a little high

As per Suez Canal Rules of Navigation the pilot assumes the responsibility in canal waters. What bullshit thrown by Egyptian officials

That sounds crazy. There was supposedly be local pilot in charge. Why there was not if was not needs to be explained. And what are those mystic 2 loops after local pilot had got onboard and before entering the channel?

Thats strang. I thought the ship is under the charge of the pilot, hence he should be responsible for the accident.
