Here's an idea how to improve your fretboard knowledge in a fun and practical way. Play a 12-bar Blues, but every bar on a different string.
For a Blues in C you have to know the positions of the three root notes C, F and G on every string to be able to play along. You can do this in all 12 keys to get to know all the notes on your fretboard.
