Step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Wrath of the Titans!

Clash of the Titans in 2010, coming off the heels of Sam Worthington’s success in Avatar, made enough money to justify a sequel. Was anyone really asking for one? No. But we got one anyway in glorious 3D! Remember that craze?

Wrath of the Titans definitely raises some questions. Like why didn’t Zeus revive Perseus’ wife again? Why are all these gods made of sand? What’s Andromeda tagging along for? Why are fire-breathing creatures hurt by fire? Does being inside an exploding Titan not hurt at all?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to John Wrath of the Titans!

Producer guy's willingness to experience a fishing movie gives me hope

Getting TWO "super easy, barely an inconvenience" in one pitch meeting is TIGHT

But as it turns out, trying to make Sam Worthington a star is super hard, very much an inconvenience.

"Hero gets smoochy-smoochy."

Absolutely true, nothing close to an inconvenience.

One of my favorite bits from this movie was Ares ignoring villain 101 and making the mistake of bringing Perseus' son to watch Ares beat Perseus to death, making the classic blunder of giving the hero just enough son-loving motivation to beat Ares.

I've started watching Wrath of the Titans twice since I first saw it without realizing that I already had, that's how compelling it is.

I really love it when Ryan does pitches for older/less well-known movies for some reason

I find it funny how Zeus is always designated as “the good guy” and Hades is always “the bad guy” in these Greek Pantheon stories even though Zeus is canonically one of the biggest jerks and a serial rapist while Hades just wants to be left alone in the Underworld.

I agree with some of you: Kronos CGI is amazing. The way he moves, the feeling of weight, and the constant sound he makes as he moves was great. Kudos for the CGI Team, they actually put effort in this film.

I love it when Scriptwriter guy says, "Oh, and So-and-so is going to be in the movie!" and Producer Guy says, "So what's his/her deal?" then Scriptwriter Guy says, "I just told you!" Gets me every time. 🤑

"She is one of whose people, that dies often". That line just killed me.

" he's probably got to go to a trade school or something" is the best line.

wait, if the gods can combine their weapons to kill Crownose why didn't they just kill him instead of making a deal to be subservient to him?

Man, the writer REALLY oversold the final blow of "Perseus gently floats into Chronos' mouth and lazily drops the spear down his throat."

Separately, I love the passing mention of Zeus losing all his hair color power.

I am now more into the "Hey shut up" lore than the movie he is pitching...

Zeus: "people aren't praying to us so we are losing our powers."
Me: "have you tried smiting? If you do some smiting people will probably pray to ask you to stop."

“Life is too absurd not to laugh at” was a good line tbh

I can't wait for your eventual pitch meeting on the oft forgotten prequel in this series, Remember The Titans.

Ralph Fiennes as Hades attending a trade school is a movie I'd watch.
