Step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Clash of the Titans!

After the success of 2009’s Avatar, Hollywood was determined to make Sam Worthington the next big leading man. Along with Terminator: Salvation, he was put at the forefront of several huge productions– one of which was a remake of the 1981 film Clash of the Titans.

Clash of the Titans definitely raises some questions though. Like why is this called Clash of the Titans when there are zero titans in it? What’s the Kraken doing here in a Greek Mythology story? What was the point of those two guys who show up for a bit and then randomly leave? Why was Perseus so selective about which god gifts to accept? Why didn’t Zeus bring back his family in the end?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Clash of the Titans.

To be fair, Zeus having other people stop the plans he set in motion is probably the most on-brand thing in this entire movie.

“I’m proud of you son for stopping the thing that I, myself, set into motion” - Zeus in one sentence 😂

I love how no matter what happens, how crazy the ideas are, or how much doubt exists, Screenwriter Guy and Producer Guy ALWAYS agree to make the movie

I love how Hades, the absolute nicest and most chill of all Greek gods is the one that sets loose the Kraken, a sea monster from Norse mythology. Poseidon must've been taking a nap or something, because I clearly remember Poseidon doing that in the original movie. :P

I can't believe you missed the opportunity to say "Releasing your Kraken is tight!"

Producer guy showed more emotions during the "Oh no, very pretty exposition lady" bit than the whole cast in the whole movie...combined.

"Remaking existing movies is like a comfy little safety baby blanket for me I like the sound of that"-every movie studio the past decade

I've never seen this movie so I didn't know who they got to play Hades and I thought that the whole "someone who can play a dark lord" joke was going somewhere but when I actually saw Ralph Fiennes' face I laughed out loud; perfection.

Glad to see Ryan covering that weird year where Hollywood told us Sam Worthington was their biggest star and we all went along with it until we didn't.

Glad you brought back the, "There's no way for me to check that, " joke. I had actually been missing that one. 🤣

It's always amazing how Zeus is portrayed as some great guy, and Hades is a evil monster...
When most of the myths kind of indicate the opposite.

Ryan’s very subtle “Hey Shut up” never ceases to make me laugh.😂🤣

Fun fact: Harry Hamlin, the guy who played Perseus in the original *Clash of the Titans, * did the voice of Perseus in the *God of War* games. They even modeled Perseus off of Hamlin as well.

4:47 "by being the main character" is pretty much THE explanation for every movie hero who suddenly gains a skill.

I would really love a pitch meeting about Eragon. I was always curious about what happened there

I have had a very stressful day to the point that I have taken my anti anxiety meds. I thought I was going to cry from the stress, but less than 30 seconds into this video I am smiling. It's not the meds. They haven't had time to work. You SIR are a national treasure. I'm sure your work saves lives. A blessing on your head.

I laughed at the part when the desert people gave Perseus a shield made of scorpion because it was “harder than steel”….10 minutes after stabbing one to death.

So glad you mentioned Medusa's messed up situation. In EVERY version, she ONLY kills people who break into HER home that they have to go out of their way to find. Whether she was turned into a monster by Athena or born one, she literally just chills at home and people bother her for shits and giggles lmao
