One minor correction. Those are the only places you can find FRESHWATER pearls. You can find saltwater pearls in any ocean but the most likely location is Hawaii. There are also mussels that make small pearls which you can find on any beach if you open enough mussels. Although its more likely to be a one-off novelty and not a legit money making venture. You're better off going into the Appalacians and mining some quartz or amethyst crystals to sell. I've personally seen people dig up thousands of dollars in amethyst and sell it online on mineral collecting sites within a few weeks. Some places in the Carolinas and Georgia also have aquamarine and sapphire too.

Pearls form from irritation from foreign objects. I think usually they just open the oyster slightly to get the pearl and then let the oyster live so you can grow another pearl in it.

You can get the pearl if you open it just enough to extract the pearl. As long as you dont rip them all the way open you can put them back for more growth and re use them. you guys are just killing them

I once found a pearl in oyster in Florida, so I know you can find them here. Although they're rare because they are natural.
