Wow super interesting to see a motor torn down, see the casing with the magnets & the brushes separated. I've been modifying my golf cart over the last year and have been more interested lately in the internals of the motor. Thanks!

Use water! Cleans motors better without dust. Oil with transmission fluid or wd40 after it dries to stop corrosion then lube the new brushes and reassemble.

Requesting some quick help. I was able to separate everything except the armature from the end with the speed sensor on my ezgo advance motor. Does the speed sensor have to be removed to separate the armature in order to get clearance for brush studs to be removed? I’m stuck

I swapped my brushed and now forward is reverse and reverse is forward. Any ideas?

How did you get the bearing for the commutator out of the end cap? Big hammer?

Any time you open up a motor you should install new bearings. It’s cheap insurance. Especially with Al, of the carbon dust.

Well that's all fine and dandy, what I want to know is how is it that the brushes interact with the motor or how it makes it go that's what I need to know. I am legally blind I have what's called detail Vision I probably wouldn't make it past the first four screws I take out because I don't even see the whole screw and I have no one to help me but it I have the beautiful golf cart and no one to help. And I have no money so I only have me now the golf cart doesn't run anyway so if I can at least take it apart and try to clean it I just need to understand how it works so it's just sitting there anyway so I might as well try and check it out God I wish someone could help me

Hard to believe that you blew all that dust around next to your lathe.

I’d have done ✅ that outside. I wouldn’t want all this black stuff all over the house 🏠. It’s also not good 😌 for your lungs 🫁. Your friend, Jeff.

Hope you were wearing a mask. Imagine what your lungs look like after hundreds of these jobs. Even though you have a great room filter, it doesn't get all the particles.
