This is to bypass the speed controller to diagnose if a cart has a good motor.

When testing the motor I guess you have to have the cart jacked up and the brakes off?

Can you please show the world how to weld that way?

My motor says 24 volt and I hooked my 12 volt battery to it with jumper cables and the wheel turned. Is that a proper test?

And how would you make wheels spin other direction? So you just change connections on motor?

Where would you go for the best place to purchase and exchange or have rebuilt a Solid State Speed Control System?

Umm, this guy's testing a "shunt" DC motor. A "series" DC motor hookup would be completely different. Be careful. How you can tell which one you have is that a shunt motor will have an F1 and F2 terminal. Those are the field terminals. A series motor uses the prefix "S' so it will have a "S1 and S2" series terminals.
Additionally, this is a fast test just to see if the motor is functioning at some level, however, the wheels are not on the ground so therefore the motor's not loaded.
You can have a bad/intermittent brush (there are four brushes on the armature) and not know it.
It will show up later however when you have a full pack attached and the cart wheels are on the ground. The cart will have no torque and may not move at all. If you push the cart or let it roll downhill while stepping on the accelerator the motor may startup and drive the cart. When you stop the cart however, it will revert back to the same symptom.
The reason for this I don't wish to get into now but trust me it indicates a bad motor necessitating removal from the cart and brush replacement. Brushes can be had on amazon.

How do you tie the terminals together and test it with a 12v battery? I have the motor out of the cart.

Hi, I'm hoping that you can help me out. I bought a 2001 electric club car but it only came with 1 battery. Is it possible to hook that 1 battery up to see if the motor works or will it not work at all? I just want to make sure all is well before I go spending big bucks on batteries. Thanks
