thalassophobia isn't a fear of the creatures, it's fear of the deep water itself. im thalassophobic and the first image terrified me bc u can't see what's in the water but since all the others have creatures visible, i was completely fine with them. for most thalassophobics (not all!) the fear comes from the lack of knowing

The reason I have thalassophobia:
So when I was in kindergarten, it was the end of swimming class and I saw my friend misbehaving, so like any other kid would do, I went and told the teacher. (The teacher was at the other end of the pool) When I told her what my friend was doing, I was going back to my friend when my friend "accidentally" pushed me in the deep end of the pool. The teacher got me out before I passed out but I could hardly breathe. That very night, I had a dream that my family was rich and me and my dad wanted to go swimming in our private pool, but I saw that in the pool, there were sharks and it seemed like my dad couldn't see them and when he asked me why I wasn't going in, I was nearly crying. Then he pushed me into the pool and the last thing in the dream, was my head getting bitten off by a shark. I've been terrified ever since.

Just to let you know, the first one is probably the scariest people who have thalasshophobia because the first one literally does not have an end it's from the pool rooms and if you go down the slide, you're just sinking to the nonexistent bottom of the pool
