This reaction of Ilayaraja clearly shows that deep within him he knows A R Rehman is more popular in the modern days and has captured his thrown.
The modern approach to music with modern instruments and technology is too overwhelming for the old king to embrace now.
Its natural that the aged king is unable to reconcile with the fact that he has to hand over his legacy and evolution of music with time, to the next generation.
Have a heart for the old king. He did carry us with the best that music could offer in the past.
A R Rehman would also eventually have to pass his rythmic and melodious glitter in the future.
The next generation of music to come may not sound correct to the present this is how music evolves.
Even Porus was not comfortable when he was captured by Alexander !
Illayaraja has his own legacy unique to seriously he has been a master craftsman too of his times.
