Short and to the point! Thanks very much. I had this setup on my R6 but just rented the mark II to try it out and I was confused by all the added options for a second

This is what I’ve been looking for! Sometimes single point override is the better option particularly when you have multiple objects in frame.

Thanks. I have an R6 and just got an R6 mark ii and this helped clarify what is different between the two cameras.

Very helpful video. One puzzle for me is after setting the focus to centre it has changed anything. Have gone through your video several times but don't see any mistakes I have as per your instructions

Thank you for this. I’ve spent the last week trying to figure out exactly this. The owner’s manual is worthless, so feel free to make more videos that help can people understand this camera. Thanks again

Very helpful, thank you. The initial AF pt selection in servo face tracking isn't there. It was driving me mad, but his should sort it.

I just got the R6 Mark II today, and this is the first thing I did, set up the back-button focus. But having DUAL ??? I think that will be a game changer for me, because the whole reason I wanted this camera was for the auto tracking of subjects, so to be able to have 2 buttons to choose my AF type I think will be killer. (Also, fellow NJer here!)

Be aware that Spot AF Area Mode has its limitations, and should only be recommended with caveats and explanations. It is not designed for general shooting, and may in fact work against you in many, if not most situations. This is because it is looking at such small area that it can't find contrast, and thus can't focus as quickly or accurately as 1-Point AF.

Spot AF is designed for situations such as a bird hidden among the leaves, and you want to make sure you focus on the bird and not the nearby leaves. IT is for when you really need to focus on a very small area, and typically with a still subject so that the very small area you are focusing on doesn't move.

Congratulations! Google's Gemini AI referred your video when I searched for "Canon R6 back button settings for bird and portraits".

Thanks for the tips. I set it up the way you said. Is it suppose to track things or people without pressing anything. That's what it's doing for me. Also, I turned off preview af because it just kept auto focusing non stop which was annoying. The eye auto focus is way better than Sony.

Awesome and succinct workflow description of dual-back button AF. Proper back button AF custom setup in combination with custom shooting modes (dial C1-C3 ) helped me nail tack-sharp wildlife images on my Canon R6 Mark II. Thank you! (Has anyone told you that you are a dead ringer for actor Jeremy Strong (HBO Succession?)

I wish someone would go through the complete r6 mk.2 menu. Coming from a 6d and I have set up dual back button focus through your video this camera is a little overwhelming. When on a bird when eye detect is on its amazing. But when it's off its off

Thanks for the Updated version Canon R6 Mark II. I'm a total newbie to photography, is the setup the same for landscape photography or do or do I need to change a few settings? Kindest regards Billy.

Thanks a lot for this! But what if in the detection area section, the auto button is not available for selection?
